GCDD Virtual Advocacy Day #2

INCLUSIVE POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION (IPSE)

Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 10:00AM-3:00PM (EST)

Hello, advocates! The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) was excited to host our second virtual advocacy day during the 2021 legislative session that began on January 11, 2021.

This meeting explored inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) in Georgia, including how policy proposals impact the programs. Postsecondary education refers to college opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities after high school.

This advocacy day engaged Georgians with disabilities, their families, and allies on the importance of IPSE programs in the state, as well as methods of engaging their legislators in this virtual environment to ensure continued support from Georgia's policymakers for Georgia's IPSE programs and students.

The meeting agenda was published prior to the meeting and participants were welcome to come and go based on their availability and interests. ASL and CART transcription were available during this meeting and a lunch break and frequent breaks were included in the agenda.

Registration was free and open to anyone interested in supporting disability advocacy in Georgia.

If you are a family member of someone with developmental disabilities in Georgia and are interested in becoming more involved in advocacy, please email Advocacy@ClaritasCreative.com.
